在去年九月決定 Blog 平台時曾試過 Drupal，但過程不是很順利。當然啦，拿 Drupal 來建 Blog 真是大材小用了，因為 Drupal 是一套功能較強 (多) 的內容管理系統 (CMS)，倒是適合用它來建立圖書館網站。
不過在最近看到有許多人提到了 Joomla，並且評價還不錯。Joomla 也是一套 CMS，並且和 Drupal 一樣都是 Open Source 軟體。
Joomla 的應用相當廣泛，底下是一些應用的例子：

- Business or organizational directories
- Document management
- image and multimedia galleries
- E-commerce and shopping cart engines
- Forums and chat software
- Calendars
- Blogging software
- Directory services
- Email newsletters
- Data collection and reporting tools

看了真的是很心動，真希望有時間可以玩看看。從 Library Stuff 上的討論看來，似乎它比 Drupal 更容易學習，而且有不少圖書館都準備從 Mambo (另一套 Open Source CMS) 或 Drupal 移植到 Joomla。
Joomla 提供了一個 demo 網站，或許你有興趣試一試。值得一提的是，South Carolina State Library 在今年 7月初啟用的新網站就是以 Joomla 建立的，網站提供了RSS feeds、blogs、calendars、forums、discussion groups 等功能。
