在 librarian.net 看到自助式掃描器的介紹，覺得相當有趣，對讀者來說應該是很方便的服務，目前在美國已經有許多圖書館有類似的服務。

librarian.net 介紹的是 Digital Library Systems Group 的產品，KIC II。這產品其實是幾個產品的組合，上圖左是 Bookeye 掃描器，右邊則是掃描結果的處理設備，其畫面如下：

藉由 KIC II，讀者可以把掃描的結果存到 USB 隨身碟，或者是 email、FTP ..等地方，相當的方便。這裡有段實際操作的影片，各位可以去看看。另外，從其型錄看到下圖，說明 KIC II 有多種輸出的選擇。

- KIC’s flash drive slot enables images to be saved immediately directly to flash drives
- Images can be emailed directly to any email address
- KIC can output selected images to a local printer or print server
- Users that log in to KIC before scanning can use the same name and password to log in to KIC remotely and retrieve their images
- KIC can easily transfer files to interlibrary loan, electronic reserve or archives workspace on university file servers
- Files can be uploaded to a server using FTP for access from anywhere
針對第 5點，不曉得各位有何看法? 我覺得如果真的可行的話，對圖書館是有加分的效果。
